YHM Releases the Lightweight, Affordable Turbo 5.56mm Silencer

If you follow the suppressor industry very closely, you’ll no doubt recognize that Yankee Hill Machine is a company on the rise. After years of turning out good, but heavy and rather ugly cans and mounts, the Massachusetts-based brand has worked diligently over the last year or so to substantially improve their product line. The trend really dates back to the release of the Stinger .22 in 2014, but it hit its stride last year with YHM’s Nitro modular .30-caliber suppressor.

Today, YHM announced the new Turbo 5.56mm suppressor. Continuing with the tubeless design employed by the Nitro, the Turbo is 6.5” long, an unusual 1.5625” in diameter, and weighs only 13.5 ounces (sans mount). The can’s baffles are all made of 17-4 stainless steel, save the Inconel blast baffle. It ships with one of YHM’s vastly improved QD brakes and sports an MSRP of just $489. YHM claims that the Turbo is capable of 134 dB at the muzzle of a 14.5” rifle, which seems reasonable for a silencer its size.

The Turbo is one of the most compelling 5.56mm silencers I’ve seen in a long time. I can’t say for certain, but looking at other YHM cans like the Nitro and ULT, it’s possible that the Turbo’s street price could fall around or even a little below the $400 mark. Yet as incredibly affordable as that is, you don’t really give anything up. It still features full 17-4/Inconel construction, a QD mount, and respectable suppression. The official press release is embedded below.
