SDS Imports Duty B9R 9mm 1911 – Finally, an Affordable Staccato

SDS Imports ignited a firestorm of excitement at SHOT Show 2024 over its new B9R 9mm double-stack 1911. Not only is the gun handsome and feature-rich, but it represents bringing the 2011 pattern to the blue-collar shooter whose budget can’t handle a $2,000 plus handgun.

But can a gun at a third of the cost of a true race gun compete? Let’s take a closer look.

All of the new B9R pistols from SDS Imports come loaded with desirable features. Chief among them in the use of 2011-pattern double-stack 9mm magazines. This pushes the capacity of the 1911 from the normal 7-10 rounds to an incredible 23-28 rounds!

This increased capacity, paired with the excellent 1911 single-action-only trigger, makes for a world-class competition pistol.

The new Turkish-made B9R also incorporates an RMR footprint on the slide, allowing shooters to mount any optic that uses that pattern to the pistol.

B9R and Inglis

But SDS didn’t just stop there, they’re also importing new production Browning HiPower clones – the progenitor of the so-called Wonder Nines of the 1980s.

These new HiPowers are a combination of MKII and MKII features. So while they thankfully lack a magazine safety, they also have an old-school spurred hammer. Some models even include a lanyard loop at the base of the grip.

Between introducing new affordable MP5 clones, HiPower clones and a budget-friendly Staccato, SDS Imports was killing it at SHOT Show 2024. It looks like their MO is market disruption and they are doing just that. As far as I’m concerned, the more affordable options on the market, the better.
