Q Revives the Honey Badger
November 5, 2016When Kevin Brittingham was running things over at Advanced Armament Corp. (AAC), he and his compatriots devised a rifle that has since become something of a legend/myth/whatever in the firearms world. Appropriately dubbed the Honey Badger, the AR-based rifle was compact, chambered in 300 BLK, and optimized for use with a suppressor. Though the company had interested military buyers, the idea was to make a rifle that matched the MP5’s portability but offered familiar AR-15 controls. The versatility of the 300 BLK round was just gravy. Unfortunately, AAC’s rendition of the Honey Badger never made it to market.
Now that Brittingham is with his new shop, Q, he’s picking up the Honey Badger right where he left it. The Honey Badger 2.0, as some are calling it (not an official moniker), looks remarkably similar to the original, but with some tweaks. Specs haven’t been officially released, but the gun will be sold as a short-barreled rifle (SBR) and silencer combo. That’s a two stamp package for those of you keeping score at home. It’ll also operate using a self-regulating gas piston.
One thing we do know: Brittingham has stated on his personal Instagram account that the Honey Badger will cost $2,000 for both rifle and can. That’s a really reasonable price for something like this. I hope to get more information on the Honey Badger at SHOT in January (and maybe even some hands-on time).
