Rugged Suppressors’ New Oculus .22 Silencer

Just like they did last year, the folks at Rugged Suppressors have gotten a head start on SHOT Show 2017 – this time with their first .22 silencer. Named the Oculus, Rugged’s new can joins only SilencerCo’s Osprey Micro as an adjustable-length, .22-caliber silencer.

Configurable in either 3.5″ or 5.25″ formats, the Oculus is 1.06″ in diameter and weighs either 4.3 or 6.9 ounces, depending on configuration. Like its strikingly similar big brother, the Obsidian 45, Rugged’s Oculus features an ADAPT module which houses the front half of the baffle stack and can be unscrewed and removed to shorten the tube. The conical-style baffles inside are keyed for orientation, much like the ones in the Obsidian. Unlike most .22 silencers, the Oculus is made entirely of 17-4 stainless steel.

Rugged rates the Oculus for full-auto use and up to 5.7x28mm. While official test results have yet to be posted, my friends at Silencer Shop tell me that the can is capable of 112 dB as measured from the muzzle of a .22 rifle. I’ll be sure to share their video when it goes live.
