Lansky Introduces C-Clip Combo Knife Sharpener
As a knifemaker and owner of Alphadog Blades, I know the importance of always keeping a sharp edge handy. I depend on having a sharp blade or hook on hand – not only for my business – but for my recreation, too. I enjoy hunting and am a competitive fisher, so I need to have a way to keep things running sharp and smooth at a moment’s notice.
That’s why I rely on Lansky, known for making tools that get knife blades, fish hooks, axes, and machetes razor-sharp. Lansky just announced three new innovative products to its 2021 line: the C-Clip knife sharpener, the MINI knife sharpener, and the Eraser Block, and I am a big fan.
C-Clip
Almost nothing is as infuriating as a dull hook or filet knife when on the lake or river, and the C-Clip can remedy that problem in seconds. The C-Clip sharpener is versatile and handy; it’s as much at home in the tackle box as it is in the toolbox.
The C-Clip can sharpen just about anything you can physically slide through it, from broadheads to your grandad’s old pocketknife. The C-Clip is a workhorse in a pocket-sized package.
I regularly compete in catfish tournaments, and you never set a line without sharpening every hook and then resharpening them again after every catch. The C-Clip makes this process fast and simple; it literally can mean the difference between slime on the line and a 60-plus pound Flathead in the boat.
MINI Knife Sharpener
Next up from Lansky is The MINI Knife Sharpener. This little dynamo can be carried on a keychain, a belt loop, or even in the front pocket of your pants. With the MINI, you never need to be without a sharp blade. The MINI works on almost every type of blade. Kitchen knives or even something as large as your favorite cleaver can be quickly and easily resharpened in a matter of seconds without carrying around a duffle bag full of equipment.
If you run a hunting and fishing camp or cook wild game for the family, having an easily-accessible sharpener is a must. Slicing backstrap for deer camp fajitas is a chore with a dull knife, but in a moment, it can become a breeze when that blade is shaving sharp.
Eraser Block
One of the tools I utilize most is Lansky’s Eraser Block. The Eraser Block is an almost magical piece of equipment. This little block is designed to remove metal foulings from all ceramic stick-type sharpeners. Anyone who has ever used ceramic sticks to put that fine razor edge on your favorite blade knows how frustrating it can be when the stick gets coated with microscopic metal shavings. Once your ceramic is coated, it is almost useless until you clean it. The Eraser Block makes that cleanup a simple task. Simply rub the Eraser on the ceramic surfaces, and they are returned to working status.
The Eraser can even remove blemishes from sports equipment and household items. Based on the cost of the Eraser, it is almost economically impossible not to keep several in the shop, boat, truck or kitchen drawer. Heck, I have them in every toolbox, tackle box and gear bag I own.
As a knifemaker, I have found these Eraser Blocks remove blemishes from the surface of finished blades in minutes, where it would normally take hours with polishing wheels. This is one of those win-win situations, where you buy a tool for a specific purpose and find out it is akin to a Swiss Army knife with multiple uses. I have removed metal from the clogged surface of ceramic sharpeners, diamond stones, and even softer stones.
Being a knife maker who relies on his reputation to remain in business, I must say that, so far, I have been happy with every single Lansky product I’ve used. I can’t afford to waste time on inferior, shoddily made products. My name is attached to every piece of steel that comes out of my forges, and without a razor edge or a mirror finish, my doors would not be open very long. That is why I trust Lansky with so many tasks in my shop.
If you have yet to try a Lansky product, then I suggest hopping over to Lansky.com and ordering a catalog or thumbing through the online catalog and investing a small amount in a few priceless additions to your kit. I don’t think you will be disappointed. I will even wager that you will be back soon to invest in another of their fine sharpening systems.
