A Missouri man was surprised to find that his line wasn’t caught in a snag — rather, it had been caught by a monster.Â
Wade Kaminski of St. Charles Missouri was fishing the Mississippi River over the Fourth of July weekend. A St. Louis local CBS affiliate. WBNS, reported that when Kaminski couldn’t pull his line in, he told his friend, “I’m either snagged, or I’ve got a monster.”Â
It turned out to be a 112-pound, 5-foot-long monster Blue Catfish. Kaminski said the fish fought him for eight minutes before he could reel it into the boat.Â
“It was the biggest and baddest fight I’ve ever been involved with,” he told WBNS.Â
The biggest catfish in Missouri state record is 130 pounds, but that didn’t keep Kaminski from reveling in the glory of his catch.Â
“This was the one I’ve been chasing my whole life,” he told the CBS affiliate.Â
Kaminski returned the fish back to the water after an official weigh-in so that other fisherman can share in his awe-inspiring experience.Â
“We want these fish to be around for the next generations,” he told WBNS.
