The Auto Mag pistol, firing its .44-caliber rimless cartridge, is now in limited production. Dirty Harry will be smiling.
The .44-caliber Auto Mag pistol, the semi-automatic made famous by the Dirty Harry character in the movie Sudden Impact, is available once again. Over the last five years, Auto Mag has reinvigorated the Auto Mag brand and made over 20 improvements to the gun’s reliability, safety, and ease of use. The company says the new models are safer, stronger and more reliable with better metallurgy used.
The Auto Mag .44 Caliber 180 AMP Model D Classic Edition can be ordered with either an 8.5-inch or 6.5-inch barrel. It will be available with either a high polish or brush satin stainless steel finish. Buyers can choose between either Hogue G-10 or Hogue checkered wooden grips. Each pistol will ship with two magazines capable of holding 7 rounds each.
The front sight is fixed while the rear sight assembly (Kensight) is fully adjustable. These pistols will be made to order. They are hand built, hand fitted and hand tested with a minimum of a 60 day lead time.
SBR makes loaded .44 AMP ammunition and offers both 240-grain FMJ and JHP loads. Starline makes brass for the cartridge. Reloaders can also form their own brass from .30-06 or .308 rifle cases.
Naturally, anyone ordering a pistol must have it shipped to a licensed Federal Firearms Dealer.
Prior to shipment, Auto Mag must have a copy of the dealer’s Federal Firearm License (FFL) on file. These pistols cannot be shipped to California or New York at this time.
The price on these new models is hefty: $3,795 for the 8.5-inch model; $3,485 for the 6.5-inch model. Spare magazines will sell for $145. Financing is available when you order. For more information, go to AutoMag.com or call 843-756-0362
