SHOT Show Recap Day 1

The International Sportsman recap of what the editors found interesting on day 1 of SHOT Show 2020. There are more articles and videos coming out but here is a preview of some interesting items at the show.

WOOX Chassis System

The WOOX chassis is a unique product that combines European style with modern accuracy. When you first look at the chassis, you might think it is a wood stock, and you would be wrong. It is an aluminum chassis that can accept different stocks and forearms. The wood does not touch the rifle, so think of it as adding some style to an aluminum chassis.

It is currently offered in 3 different configurations. Entry-level on the bottom of the photo is the Wild Man, which comes in at $499. This is a more traditional stock design from the top stock that is the  Exactus precision shooting stock, which adds a Picatinny rail on the bottom of the stock and an adjustable cheekpiece and is $599. The flagship model in the middle of the picture is the Furiosa chassis. This chassis has Picatinny mounts on the forearm on both sides and the bottom as well as the bottom of the stock. The stock features an adjustable cheek riser, length of pull, as well as cant. The Furiosa has an MSRP of $999.

All of the chassis are designed in Italy, and the European styling is evident. Currently, they are offered in Remington 700 short and long action as well as Sauer 100 actions. The company plans to add compatibility for new actions ever three months.

The thing that we found interesting is no matter which chassis you purchase; you can change out the stock and forearm. So if you go for the entry-level stock and decide you want MLOK on the front, then you just by the MLOK forearm. It’s the same for the stock; they can be switched out. This allows you to have a hunting rifle and a range gun in one chassis.

MDT XRS Crossover Rifle Stock

The MDT XRS chassis has full MLOK on the forearm and the stock. It is a full aluminum V block bedding. It ships with two grips and has an adjustable length of pull and cheek rest. Available currently in Remington 700, but Howa, Tikka, and Ruger American models are on the way. Weight is 4 pounds, and the MSRP is $499. More on this chassis soon.

They are made entirely from recycled material such as those plastic trays that you throw away from old ammo boxes. The cheeter allows you to load ammunition with ease and quickly. This might not seem like a big deal, but for those with mobility issues, it can mean the difference between an enjoyable range day and not.
