The Rossi Rio Bravo rifle is now shipping to dealers. This lever-action rifle is chambered for the .22 Long Rifle rimfire cartridge. It carries an affordable suggested retail price of $346.97. The firearm should appeal to those who want a fast-handling rimfire lever gun, especially those who also use a centerfire lever gun for big game hunting.
Whether you want a rifle for hunting small game, pest control, teaching a new shooter, plinking a few aluminum cans or all of the above, a .22 rimfire is a good choice. And they’re economical to shoot. If you are conjuring your inner John Wayne, a lever-action is especially fun to shoot.
The Rossi Rio Bravo rifle is basically a rimfire version of the company’s popular R92 line of pistol-caliber lever guns. The rifle features an 18-inch barrel and is 36 inches long overall. It weighs 5.5 pounds. It has a cross-bolt safety.
It has polished black metal and either a German beechwood or black synthetic stock. The model with wooden stock has traditional buckhorn iron sights while the synthetic-stocked model will carry fiber-optics. The cartridges are fed from a tubular magazine under the barrel that holds 15 rounds. Â
Unlike some other lever-actions, the Rio Bravo features a barrel-band sling stud mounted ahead of the front sight and a rear sling stud in the stock. That will make carrying the rifle afield much easier.
The Rossi should find a market among those who won’t pay almost $300 more for a lever-action .22 such as the Browning BL-22. Whether it can compete with the entry-level offerings from Henry Repeating Arms remains to be seen as those are only a few dollars more. Still, at real world prices, saving a few bucks might mean buying that much more ammo.
Rossi is part of Taurus Holdings. Their firearms are manufactured in Brazil.
Currently, they produce a number of rimfire rifles, break-action shotguns, straight-wall centerfire cartridge lever-actions and revolver rifles.
