New Daiwa Tackle Barn – Tackle Bag

Tackle bags are becoming more and more the go-to pick for anglers.  Out with the old clunky plastic boxes and in with the new lighter weight bags, with innovative easy-access storage compartments and better carrying options.  Several manufacturers have jumped on the tackle bag bandwagon, and now Daiwa is continuing the trend with the introduction of their Tackle Barn.  A bag they say will satisfy your needs for tackle transport and more.

Utility Box Storage

First on the list of features are the unique topside gullwing doors. They give the tackle bag its distinctive barn shape, making it stand out from its square or rectangular counterparts. The design provides quick access to tackle due to how easy it is to remove, swap, and return intact the tackle utility boxes. This is a standout feature for me as I can’t count the times I found myself with utility boxes scattered all over the bottom of the boat – this just might help solve that problem.
The Tackle Barn holds a good deal of tackle. It comes with four Daiwa 370 utility boxes and four 360 utility boxes and will accommodate another four 370 or 360 size boxes. The boxes fit nicely in the topside compartments. Even with all this storage, the Tackle Barn’s size is still manageable and can be stored under most steering counsels.

Side Storage

The left and right side of the bag offers a variety of holders and pockets. One side has a zippered pocket that provides a readily accessible and safe place to store those precious sunglasses. Under the sunglasses pouch is a large zippered pocket where you can store larger items. It also contains a pouch that can be rolled over the bag, which offers additional protection against extreme wet weather. Velcroed to the pocket is a drink holder and a zippered bag to use for spools, etc.
The other side of the bag has a smaller zippered pocket, suitable for small items. Beneath is a large zippered pocket containing several pouches and pockets for your mobile phone, fishing license, etc. All zippered pockets are #8 and #10 nylon rustproof zippers, safe for saltwater use. The pocket is also velcroed and sports a detachable spool holder that can accommodate approximately six spools.

Carrying Options

Daiwa decided to steer away from providing a backpack like method for carrying the bag. Instead, they offer a removable and adjustable shoulder strap with a soft rubber grip pad to help keep it on your shoulder when navigating difficult terrain. Or you can simply use the built-in topside handle.

Last but certainly not least, the Tackle Barn is designed to handle the rugged demands we often put on our tackle boxes. Its base is waterproof and reinforced to withstand real-life handling along with all the water it will likely encounter during your fishing excursions.
