Heckler & Koch Lowers Prices on Popular Handguns

If there’s one thing that is true about European firearms, it is that Heckler & Koch handguns are phenomenal. They’re supremely well made. You may find some guns that approach HKs in terms of overall quality, but very few beat them. The other thing to know about them is that aside from the relatively new VP9 and VP40 series handguns, HK’s offerings are downright pricey – at least they were.

This week, HK initiated a series of price reductions across their pistol lineup. The first of these was the P30 and HK45 lines, which suddenly experienced a massive 30-40% price drop. The P30 fell from $900 to a far more reasonable $580, which is very close to the VP series’ price. HK45s can be found for just a bit more than that.

The impetus for the change appears to be the opening of HK’s new production facility in Georgia. I reached out to HK to see if they could provide any additional information regarding these changes, particularly whether they will extend to the USP line and beyond. This is the response I received:

With the building of our new production facility in Columbus GA that produces the HK45 series pistol we are now able to cut cost and pass that on to our consumers. Also our upper management has been able to negotiate better pricing on the P30 series pistols we get from Germany and therefore we are able to pass along that savings to our consumers as well. We look forward to these savings for the new year and hope we can pass even more to our customers. As far as it extending to other lines we have no word on that at the moment.

These changes are clearly great news for gun owners who want to own some of the best handguns on the market, but couldn’t afford HKs at their previous going rates.
