Buck Knives Adds Cerakote Finish To Abyss Fillet Series
Buck Knives will soon be offering their Abyss fillet knives with an attractive and tough Ridgeway Blue Cerakote finish. Models will include the 035 with 6 ½-inch blade, 12 ¼,inches overall, and the 036 with 9 ½-inch blade, 15 1/8 inches overall.
Enhanced Corrosion Resistance
A coating of Cerakote, a polymer/ceramic composite, will provide enhanced abrasion and corrosion resistance over Buck’s 420HC blade steel, already known for its wear and corrosion resistance. Buck uses the Paul Bos heat treat system that involves heating, freezing and reheating the steel for optimal performance.
“Our fillet knives were designed with the input of pro anglers working alongside our Engineering Team. These updated fillet knives underwent rigorous testing to check the blades and handles for any signs of oxidation, specifically in saltwater conditions,” said Chris Brooks, director of brand management of Buck Knives. “Our goal was to create a durable knife that could withstand the elements without sacrificing quality and the Abyss series fillet knives are the perfect addition for the tackle box.”
Lightweight, Rugged Construction
Both models feature a .070-inch thick blade in a trailing point configuration. The knives feature full-tang construction with textured glass-filled nylon handle designed for comfort, control and a secure hold. The 6 ½-inch model weighs 3.4 ounces, while the 9 ½-inch model weighs 3.6 ounces. Each comes with an injection-molded nylon sheath with drain hole. An optional leather sheath is available for the 6 ½-inch model for $25. The MSRP for the 035 and 036 will be $70 and $80, respectively.
These knives are made in the U.S. and carry Buck Knives’ forever warranty against manufacturer defects.
