Bond Arms Introduces .45-70 Derringer Named the Cyclops

Bond Arms is a well-known name in the firearms industry, recognized for producing some of the highest quality derringers in the North American market. Their handguns are not only available in a wide range of calibers, but they are also statement pieces that are built to last. Bond Arms is now pushing the boundaries of traditional derringers by introducing a new series of big-bore derringers that are chambered in rifle calibers.

At the 2023 SHOT Show, Bond Arms announced the launch of their new .45-70 derringer, the Cyclops. Weighing in at 28 oz, the Cyclops is built tougher and more durable than ever before. It has a 4.25 in. barrel that is fitted into a single action frame, and it is the first release in a series of big bore derringers that will be available in 50 AE, 454 casull, and 44 magnum.

Unlike other pistol options from Bond Arms, the Cyclops is a single-shot-only firearm. This makes it different from the traditional over/under staple of most derringers. The lack of a secondary chambering adds additional weight to the pistol, which helps to mitigate some of the felt recoil in a cartridge as large as the .45-70. Additionally, the Cyclops comes with an extended and proprietary B6 resin grip, which has been designed to be more ergonomic and easier to shoot.

The sights on the Cyclops are fixed to the frame and barrel, and they are no different from most other Bond Arms options. The handgun measures a 6.75 in. overall length, and it has a hefty 7 lb trigger pull. Despite this, the Cyclops is a ton of fun to shoot and is the perfect derringer for those who want to make a statement at the range.

It is worth noting that many of the Bond Arms barrels can be swapped to various frames. However, the Cyclops frame will not be compatible with the Hand Cannon, Stinger, or Stinger RS barrels.

In terms of features, the Cyclops has an extended B6 resin grip, fixed sights, and a single action trigger. It has a capacity of 1 round, and it has a trigger pull weight of 7 lbs. The firearm has a caliber of .45-70 Government, a barrel length of 4.25 in., a length of 6.75 in., and it weighs 28 oz. The MSRP of the Cyclops is $699.
